I usually get pulled in when a lot is moving at once: product direction is still shifting, technical decisions are getting expensive, and delivery needs steadier adult supervision. I like being useful in that exact moment.

Some engagements are diagnostic and short. Others are hands-on for a season. In both cases, I try to leave the team with clearer priorities, stronger technical judgment, and less avoidable chaos.
Product-heavy teams, early ventures, and operating companies where speed matters but shipping the wrong thing would be expensive.
